Curious about the Entertainment Industry? Want to know what our authors are talking about if they use a phrase you haven't heard? Below are some Industry Terms excerpted from The Hollywood Collegiate Dictionary by Randi del Marco. You can download the entire Dictionary for free if you click here.

Film Noir – a style of filmmaking which developed in the 1940s and 50s which dealt with corruption, cynicism and disillusionment, often detective stories with seedy characters, anti-heros and femmes fatales in night scenes, characterized by odd angles, heavy shadows.

Four-wall – when a producer or director hires a theatre and pays to screen a film for the paying public rather than go through a distributor.

Lust in Las Vegas by Randi del Marco
Review by Brenda Talley ~ The Romance Studio --- Awarded 4 hearts!!

Pepper Wright was an assistant to the producer in the film industry. Dustin Chrome, her immediate boss, depended upon her for all the miscellaneous details that could make or break an action/adventure film such as they were doing in Las Vegas. His (and, therefore, their jobs were to answer to the bonding company). Pepper managed to keep Dustin abreast of the minutia and still maintain an active personal agenda (as in sexual activity). She was always on the lookout for someone with whom to spend time who would not expect happily ever after. She didn’t even waste her flight time to Las Vegas; she joined the ‘Mile-High Club,’ with a man she met named Jeremy.

When Pepper had some down time, she perused her co-workers for a possible sexual attraction. She found one in Bryan who admitted to a girlfriend back home but she sensed that it was old news. She let him know she was interested; after all, she did not want anything long term—just film term. Their relationship was the primary focus of this first book in the new series, Pepper on Location.

Ms. Randi del Marco used tongue-in-cheek humor when presenting this highly sensual relationship. Through it all, Pepper never lost track of her job and responsibilities. This author created her main characters with vivid descriptions. They were lovable and likeable. Dustin was demanding and obsessive, much as we perceive film people would be. All the cast had specific roles and it was obvious that Ms. Del Marco was familiar with the scenario.

I enjoyed this fast-paced sexual romp through the making of a film. The plot was solid and it was easy to get involved in the story. It will be interesting to see how Pepper develops throughout the series. For now, read this initial offering. It’s good.

Randi del Marco - July 2007
Interview with Fallen Angel Reviews

Hello Randi, how are you today? I was looking at your website and saw your book, Lust in Las Vegas and Snow, Fire and Ice. Can you tell the readers something about one of your books?

Lust In Las Vegas / Release Date: July 13, 2007
Pepper, producer's assistant extraordinaire, goes on location in Las Vegas and hooks up with Bryan Boynton, the show's hunky stunt coordinator.

While Bryan cooks up one of the most complicated stunt sequences ever executed on the strip, Pepper is keeping the director from firing the storyboard artist, one of the actors from seducing the DGA trainee, and watching for excessive consumption of the really dangerous drugs on set – Red Bull and Krispy Kremes!

The moments Bryan and Pepper steal together are hot, hot, and hot. And everything comes to a boil the day Bryan proposes to pull off the stunt of the century.

How does the day begin for Randi?
Early. I am a morning person and I like to get all my chores out of the way before I settle down to write. (Of course, writing is never a chore.) While I am busy with stuff around the house and garden, I let thoughts about my current project bubble up and see if anything interesting had come up through my dreams to add to them. I will then sit down and usually start with editing what I wrote the day before to get me in the flow and then write for 4 or 5 (mostly) uninterrupted hours. Sometimes a page, sometimes 20. I try not to set expectations so I can look forward to the next day without pressure.
What does your work space look like?
An office alcove in my kitchen. It is a warm, bright room with lots of white and light blue walls. Piles of books, computer, printer, phone, etc. Center of my house so I can be part of what is going on.
What are your plans for future WIP?
Definitely more Pepper stories. I really like her and I have lots of tales to tell through her.
